Mrs Bridget Anyafulu, member representing (PDP- Oshimili South)

A lawmaker at the Delta House of Assembly, Mrs Bridget Anyafulu (PDP- Oshimili South), has charged Christian youths in the state to take active part in politics in order to change the narrative for the better.
She said this at a Conference o

f Oshimili South Young Christian Network on Monday in Asaba.

Anyafulu, also the Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Humanitarian Support Services and Girl Child Entrepreneurship, said that Christian youths must take active part in politics to contribute their quota toward the development of the state.

“Do not run away from politics. When they call for meetings, you have to be there.
”There is a purpose why God made politics.

Politics is about development, it is about making sure things go in the right way.
”Politics is about sure that the schools,

hospital and other social amenities are in order. It is about making sure that the teacher goes to school early to teach the students.

”It is about making sure that the doctors, nurses are in the hospital to attend the patients early. It is about make sure that our roads are in good condition.

”Politics is about making sure that even if my village is inside the bush, there are transformers, electricity, schools, hospital among other social amenities there, she added.

She said that during her election campaign, she made promise to ensure that churches were actively involved in the political activities in the state.

“If you come in with the fear of God, you must make things work,” she said.

Anyafulu who commended the group for the meeting, advised the members to shun all forms of social vices.

”The future of Oshimili South, Delta, Nigeria at large is in your hands. As youths, you are strong, reliable and important people. You are the Light and the Salt of the Earth. If Oshimili South, Delta and Nigeria will work, it is in your hands.

”And I believe, you have the capability to change things for the better,” she said
She also encouraged them to key into agriculture and skill acquisitions in order to be self reliant.

In his remarks, the State’s Commissioner for Youth, Mr Agbateyiniro Wejinani also advised youths to key into the various youth empowerment programmes of the State Government.

Speaking on the theme of the conference: ”Responsibilities of Youth in Our Society ”, the commissioner admonished them to continue to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ in all their activities.

“You are the light and salt of the earth. And as Christian youths, you must wake up to these responsibilities. And at all times, you must conduct as the light and salt of the world,” he said.

Also, Dr Darlington Ijeh, the State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, said the government had lots of programmes for youths in the state.

Also, the Oshimili South Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dada Okonji advised youths to emulate the virtue of Jesus Christ.

In his address, the President of the Oshilmili Christian Network, Mr Ifeanyi Anyafulu, said that the group which was a non-denominational organisation, was founded to raise new generation of Christian youths who would live up to their responsibilities as Christians.

“Drug abuse, cultism, prostitution, indecent dressing, Internet fraud, inordinate crave for material wealth and success by any means and other forms of criminal activities as well as impunity and violent behaviours are as rife and rampant with young Christians as they are their counterparts.

”But our ultimate goal is to leverage on the formidable ethical and moral Arsenal of the Christian faith as well as civic ethos and obligations of citizens in modern states to cleanse our society of its fundamental ills such as corruption, drug abuse among others,” he said.

On his part, Apostle Joshua Erhenwe, Pastor  of Christ Chosen Church of God, Asaba, admonished youths to imbibe the virtue of Christ.
