The Senator representing Bayelsa West senatorial district, Senator Seriake Dickson, has congratulated the management, staff and students of Regent Secondary School, Abuja on their 2024 graduation.

The colourful event took place at the school’s magnificent hall, in Abuja on Saturday;, with 84 graduating students, 21awards for outstanding efforts and most improved, and 22 others for academic performances.

The Senator and family had joined others to witness the graduation of their wards in a ceremony that also witnessed presentations of cash prizes, plaques and certificates to deserving students that distingushed themeselves in their academic, sports and other school activities.

Senator Dickson, who invested, and is still investing heavily in educational institutions, in Bayelsa State, extolled parents who have continued to invest in the educational pursuits of their children, saying it remains the best legacy for children and furture generations.

His words: “Today in the company of members of my family and my aides, I attended the graduation ceremony of my daughter Gesiere Grace Seriake Dickson from the Regent Secondary School, Abuja.

“I congratulate her for her awards in sports and other disciplines, I also congratulate her co-graduands, the school authority and all the parents and guardians especially for doing the right thing by investing in education, because as parents and as leaders, this is what we owe our children and anyone under our care.

He further said, “This is why as governor and even now, I continue to invest in and promote education for all. I wish her the best as she prepares for her ‘A levels and further studies.”

Relatedly, Senator Dickson had a day earlier received respected elders of Bayelsa State who obtained their letters and certificates of conferment of National awards.

He thanked them for visiting him in Abuja, and allowing him to share the honor with them, their families, well wishers and friends.

“I urge our people as I have always done to use every opportunity to support, project and uplift each other as we are not many. This is what I have practiced and promoted over the years, projecting, fighting, uplifting, defending and supporting our people regardless of partisan or other differences in opinion.

“I extend my best wishes to them, expecting to see more of our people recognised and honored for whatever it is worth as those who are celebrated and honored from other places are not better than our people”

Dickson seized the opportunity to, “Urge all leaders and the youths especially in Bayelsa and across Ijaw land to shun pettiness, shallowness, treachery, subversion, envy, ingratitude, peddling of false news, rumor mongering, blackmail, deceit and disrespect for one another as a way of life, even to benefactors and elders.

“I thank the Federal Government, especially the former President Muhammadu Buhari, for the honuor done them. I congratulate the awardees and wish them the best”, he added.
