NAL to honour Zeb Ejiro with ‘Excellent in Humanistic Practice’ award

The Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) has nominated Chief  Zeb Ejiro (MON) as one of the pioneer recipients of the NAL Award of Excellence in Humanistic Practice.
NAL  while announcing the nomination in a letter of invite, said that the nomination was approved by the Executive Committee at its meeting of 4 July 2024.
”NAL Awards, which are  instituted in 2023, are designed to recognise and bestow honour upon professionals, practitioners, and performers outside the academia whose innovative and creative works form the basis of research projects, theses, dissertations, inaugural lectures, etc., carried out and delivered in our universities and other tertiary institutions
at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
”The Nigerian Academy of Letters is the apex body of arts and humanities scholarship in
Nigeria.
”It is an autonomous, scholarly, and non-political state institution for advancing scholarship and public interest in the humanities at the highest level in the country, ” the statement read.
‘It added, ”members of the Academy are professors of not less than five years.”
The letter also stated the  objectives of the Academy to include: to create a national forum for the coordination of
efforts of learned societies in the area of the Arts; to promote scholarship at the highest levels in the Arts.
Others are to influence at different levels of national life, formulation of policies affecting the development of the Arts; to encourage and undertake various publications, including books, monographs, journals, bulletins, and newsletters; to encourage the
development of the Creative Arts; and to encourage and undertake other activities which
promote the broad objectives of the Academy without discrimination on grounds of sex
or creed.
It said that the award would be conferred on him during the 26th Annual Convocation of the Academy, holding on Thursday, 8 August 2024, at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.
The noted that As a not-for-profit organisation, NAL depends on support from individuals and
organisations who share its values and vision for the development of the humanities in
Nigeria for funding its activities.
