Delta LG Election: Speaker emphasises synergy for grassroots devt
The Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Dennis Guwor, has emphasised the need for a strong synergy to further promote peace and prosperity in the local government areas.
Guwor made the call at Okerenkoko, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta, where he was to exercise his voting right at the state local government election on Saturday.
The speaker noted that governance at the grassroots level was very key to delivering the ‘MORE Agenda’ of the state government.
He commended the large turnout of voters in the wards, saying that nothing could compare to democracy allowing electorates to pick their leaders.
He also praised the electorates for their commitment to the development and growth of democratic governance.
He assured them that by doing so, they would continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Guwor, representing Warri South-West, stated that from feelers across his constituency, he could express confidence that the entire process would end in praise.
He applauded the Delta Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) for its efforts, adding that he hoped the best candidates would emerge victorious.
He appreciated Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership skills in ensuring that the election was conducted per stipulated electoral rules and procedures.
