NNU Elections: Submission of delegates’ list and sundry matters

The Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU, has released the delegate list and other related matters as it prepares for the February 8, 2025 elections.

NNU in a statement by the Electoral Committee, headed by Ogbuiji Kaine, also announced that all forms for the elective positions have been bought with multiple aspirants in most cases for majority of the offices, which they described as a good development showing and demonstrating the interest the election has generated.

The e apex body of the Ndokwa nationality also encouraged contestants to run by the rules, as they advised and cautioned that campaigns should be issue-based knowing as NNU is as dignifying as those who aspire to occupy the various offices in the Union.

The statement reads thus: “Electoral Committee 2025 wishes to address the general public and in particular the clans and aspirants on the delegate’s list and sundry matters affecting the coming election slated for 8th February 2025.

“Firstly, we thank stakeholders, individuals across divides and opinion leaders who have continued to partner with Elecom to ensure that the coming balloting exercise receives the attention deserving of a transparent and credible election which result will make the in-coming EXCO rancor free”, it states

‘the statement further states, “So far, we are pleased to announce that all forms for the elective positions have been bought with multiple aspirants in most cases for the majority of the offices. This is a good development showing and demonstrating the interest the election has generated.

“The EleCom is making steady progress in procuring materials and securing the venue of the election. In addition, EleCom is in touch with all the aspirants preparatory to their screening date after which those who passed the litmus test will transform to become candidates for the election.

We have advised and cautioned that campaigns should be issue-based knowing that NNU is as dignified as those who aspire to occupy the various offices in the Union. Therefore, aspirants are not unlikely to bear the responsibility for their supporters at the screening venue if they are not further deterred from doing anything to the contrary”, it further states.

DELEGATES LIST.

As advertised in the electoral guideline, “The nomination of delegates must be gender sensitive and the King/Okpala-Ukwu/Clan CDA or PGS, as the case may be, is required to issue a letter authenticating the nominations of delegates.

“Such letter should be addressed to the Chairman, NNU, Election Committee 2025 not later than 28th January 2025 and a soft copy shared with the Secretary’s WhatsApp line 08033974743. Meanwhile, we appreciate the clans that have taken the initiative to forward their lists already.

CHANGE OF ELECTION VENUE.

Following a high-level consultation on availability of venue, crowd control/accreditation process and security, a new venue has been secured for the 8th February 2025 election as follows.

“This venue, which will be announced soon, is strictly for delegates, leaders of thought, past presidents and secretaries NNU, accredited Press men and women, and NNU ad-hoc staff. Supporters of aspirants are not allowed into the venue as it is not an all-comers affair.

“Lastly, we are here to administer the process and for all to abide by the electoral guidelines for a seamless, credible and fair election. We plead for your understanding and cooperation as we move into the final stage of this crucial election process”, they further explained.
