Biden thanks public after prostate cancer diagnosis

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support following his prostate cancer diagnosis.
“Cancer touches us all,” Biden wrote in a social media post, sharing a photo of himself and his wife, Jill.
“Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
Biden’s office announced that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
However, the condition is considered manageable since it’s hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective treatment.
The cancer was discovered after Biden experienced increasing urinary symptoms, leading to a medical examination that revealed a prostate nodule.
Several notable figures have expressed their well-wishes for Biden’s recovery.
Former President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama, along with his wife Michelle, have all sent messages of support.
Obama praised Biden’s determination and commitment to cancer research, stating, “I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace.
”We pray for a fast and full recovery.”
Obama also highlighted Biden’s contributions to cancer research, saying, “Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe.”
Biden’s experience with cancer is not limited to his own diagnosis. In 2015, his eldest son, Beau, passed away due to a brain tumor at the age of 46.
Biden has frequently spoken about the loss in public speeches.
As Vice President, Biden also led the “Cancer Moonshot” initiative, a government-wide research programme launched in 2016 to accelerate cancer research and treatment.
