Red Cross, Edo Govt. to work together on disaster response

The Edo State government has assured the Nigerian Red Cross Society of its unwavering support and collaboration for its humanitarian interventions and sustainability.
This assurance was given by the Deputy Governor, Mr Dennis Idahosa, during a courtesy visit by the leadership and members of the Edo chapter of the society.
Idahosa lauded the Red Cross for their tireless service in offering hope to the hopeless and supporting vulnerable communities, especially in moments of national disaster and humanitarian crisis.
“Your humanitarian services have contributed significantly to maintaining peace and preventing chaos during times of disaster,” Idahosa said.
The Deputy Governor pledged to convey the society’s appeals for support to Governor Monday Okpebholo and urged the organization to stay true to the vision of its founder, Jean Henry Dunant.
He also called on well-meaning citizens and corporate bodies in Edo to support the work of the Red Cross, stressing that humanitarian work requires collective effort and shared responsibility.
The Chairman of the Red Cross Society in Edo, Mr Monday Edogiawerie, unveiled the society’s plan to celebrate the 2025 World Red Cross Week in Edo, themed “On the Side of Humanity.”
He appealed for government funding and logistical support to help the Red Cross continue delivering its humanitarian objectives without hindrance.
