“The CSDA is an agency of the state government that has a mandate to support communities to implement their self-help orders, using what we call community-driven development approach.
”Basically, the agency assists communities to enable them to benefit and have access to social infrastructure services,” Udie explained.
Udie noted that the projects were constructed under the World Bank-assisted CSDA and completed within two years of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration.
He added that the governor, through the micro projects, had impacted the source of livelihood of the people and improved their economy.
Udie highlighted the sustainability of the projects, saying, “these projects, executed using the bottom-top approaches, are sustainable, in the sense that the communities take ownership of these projects.”
He also noted that projects under the CSDA are cheaper and faster to execute, as they utilise direct labour.
Dr. Hippolatus Lukpata, the State’s Commissioner for International Donor Coordination, said the projects were part of the governor’s “People First” mantra, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the needs of the people.
