Nigerian companies can grow through offshore opportunities – Shell

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) believed Nigerian companies have numerous opportunities to grow by leveraging its offshore and shallow water operations.
Ronald Adams, SNEPCo’s Managing Director, made this remark at the 5th Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
Adams, represented by Charles Oranyeli, Head of Supply Chain, highlighted projects such as Bonga Southwest Aparo, Bonga North, and Bonga Main Life extension as potential growth opportunities for Nigerian businesses.
“If they can apply themselves seriously to executing higher value contracts, it could also improve their expertise,” Adams said.
He noted that SNEPCo pioneered Nigeria’s deepwater frontier with the Bonga development, which has greatly benefited Nigerian businesses.
Adams encouraged Nigerian companies to upgrade their skills and offer services in areas such as logistics, drilling, fabrication, and construction of subsea manifolds.
“SNEPCo sees Nigerian content development as a business driver and not a regulatory requirement. SNEPCo will continue to support our companies to play even bigger roles in their support for oil and gas operations,” Adams said.
The Bonga Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel has produced the 1-billionth barrel of oil from the field, demonstrating the potential for growth and development in the sector.
