JAMB Website Hack: Gov. Uzodimma urges quick investigation

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services to intensify their investigation into the suspected hackers of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) website.
Uzodimma reacting to the arrest in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, Mr Declan Emelumba on Saturday, described the arrest of 20 suspects by the police and DSS as timely.
He added that it was necessary to establish the root cause of the problem and douse the tension that arose in the nation.
According to him, the arrest was not only necessary to establish the root cause of the problem, but also to douse the tension that arose in the nation because of the crisis.
He urged both agencies to move quickly with the investigation to unravel those behind the hacking of the JAMB website, saying a quick investigation and arraignment of the suspects in court would act as a deterrent to would-be criminals.
JAMB experienced glitches in its website during the last examination, affecting the results of over 370,000 students, mostly from the southeast.
The police and DSS announced the arrest of 20 suspects who allegedly compromised the JAMB website for a fee, resulting in chaos and trauma for parents and students.
Uzodimma commended the JAMB registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his sincerity and commitment to preserving the sanctity of the examination body.
