Suspect linked to kidnap gang operating in 4 States arrested in Delta

The Police Command in Delta has apprehended a member of an interstate kidnap gang.
The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday in Warri.
According to Edafe, the 30-year-old suspect was arrested on May 20 by operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT).
”The suspect is a member of a kidnap gang terrorizing Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu states,” he said .
Edafe explained that the suspect coordinates the syndicate operating on the Ughelli-Ozoro axis and resides in the Woji area of Port Harcourt.
”Upon interrogation, the suspect led the team to a forest in Ozoro in Isoko North, where assorted weapons belonging to the gang were recovered.
”Acting on credible information and building on the momentum of an earlier breakthrough, the police operatives on May 20, arrested another suspected kidnapper, ” Edafe said.
The Police spokesman said that items recovered from the suspect include two AK-47 rifles, 32 rounds of live ammunition, and four AK-47 rifle magazines.
Edafe added that the command had intensified the trail of the other members of the gang.
The arrest is directly linked to an earlier operation where three members of the gang were apprehended, and dangerous weapons were recovered from them.
The suspect admitted coordinating the syndicate operating on the Ughelli-Ozoro axis and led the team to the forest in Ozoro where the weapons were recovered.
