Ikorodu Building Collapse: LASEMA confirms 1 death, several trapped

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of one adult male and reported that several people were still trapped under debris after a building collapse in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
According to the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency received a distress alert at 14:02 hours, prompting the activation of the State’s Emergency Response Plans.
”Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a two-storey building undergoing construction had collapsed, trapping three victims under the debris.
Oke-Osanyintolu said that one adult male was found dead, while three people were still trapped.
He however, noted that nine adult males were successfully rescued and received medical attention from the LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Unit.
The cause of the building collapse is yet to be determined.
Oke-Osanyintolu said safety measures were put in place, with the operational area cordoned off at the incident scene.
The agency is working to rescue those trapped and investigate the cause of the collapse.
