Tinubu’s endorsements stem from performance, not fear of opposition – Kalu

Senator Orji Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has dismissed suggestions that the growing endorsements for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid were due to concerned over opposition alliances.
Instead, Kalu attributed the wave of support to the President’s performance and policy direction.
Addressing Senate correspondents before plenary on Tuesday, Kalu said, “The APC is not afraid of any opposition coalition.
”We are the ruling party and we love Nigeria. That is why many of us are investing in industries across the country to create jobs beyond government efforts.”
He emphasised that the APC is focused on delivering results and creating jobs, rather than being swayed by opposition criticism.
Kalu noted that criticism from the opposition was expected in a democratic setting, but should not be mistaken for weakness on the part of the ruling party.
“The opposition must fight, that’s their job. But our job is to deliver, and we’re doing it. In the coming years, Nigerians will appreciate what Mr President is doing,” he said.
Kalu also spoke about the Southeast’s support for Tinubu, revealing that the region’s endorsement preceded many others.
“The Southeast leaders, including Governors and federal lawmakers, spearheaded the initiative,” he said.
On economic matters, Kalu commended Tinubu’s bold decisions, such as fuel subsidy removal and the unification of the exchange rate.
While acknowledging the challenges these reforms have brought, he insisted they were necessary for long-term economic stability.
