Liverpool sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen on 5-year deal

Liverpool Football Club has announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
Although the transfer fee and contract length were not disclosed, British media reports indicate that Frimpong has joined Liverpool on a five-year deal worth 35 million euros (£29.5 million)
The news of Frimpong’s signing comes shortly after Liverpool confirmed the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
Frimpong is seen as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, having played a key role in Leverkusen’s success, including their first Bundesliga title in 2023/24.
He made 53 appearances in all competitions this season as Leverkusen finished second.
Frimpong will face competition for the right-back position from Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley, who recently signed a new four-year contract with Liverpool.
The 24-year-old Dutch international has previously played for Manchester City’s youth ranks, Celtic, and Leverkusen, where he joined in January 2021.
With this signing, Frimpong joins a growing Netherlands contingent at Liverpool, including manager Arne Slot, club captain Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is reportedly in talks with Leverkusen to sign Frimpong’s former teammate, Florian Wirtz, with an improved £109 million ($146 million) bid, including add-on clauses that would make him the club’s most expensive signing.
