Dickson seeks end to acrimony, division in South-South politics

Senator Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State, expressed hope for a new brand of politics in the South-South region, moving away from acrimony, division, and infighting.
Dickson who represents Bayelsa West at the Senate, made the call at the 60th birthday colloquium of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation.
“We are hopeful that the Minister and all in the South South will work for a new politics of regional agenda and national consensus-building as we have always done, ” he said.
Dickson emphasised the need for regional solidarity and national consensus-building in the South-South region.
He urged Nigerians to shine their eyes and work towards a new politics, free from acrimony and division.
“I am not a professional coalition builder, I have no better advice than to enjoin them to shine their eyes. I enjoin them and all Nigerians to shine their eyes, ” he said.
Dickson jokingly referred to the professional coalition builders who conspired in 2014 to take over government.
He said, “We thought that there would have been no weaponisation of poverty and that all the challenges of Nigeria would have been gone.”
Dickson congratulated Amaechi on his 60th birthday, saying, “On behalf of my family, I wish him a happy 60th birthday, to him and his wife, family, and well-wishers.
”I pray for many more happy returns in good health.”
