Fubara’s actions bring me to tears – Wike

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed deep emotional pain over the actions of suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike said during a media chat on Monday.
Wike said Fubara’s betrayal has left him overwhelmed with emotion, often bringing him to tears.
“Sometimes, when I go back in my quiet moment, I play the video of the speeches of the governor, what he said and did to me, I weep,” Wike said.
He likened the situation to a son conspiring with armed robbers to rob his father, emphasising the depth of Fubara’s betrayal.
Wike accused Fubara of aligning with those who sought to bring him down, stating, “He gave himself as a tool for those who could not fight me directly.”
Despite this, Wike insists he harbours no personal conflict with Fubara, but stressed that genuine peace was necessary.
“I have said I want peace, but you must show that the peace you want is genuine,” Wike noted.
He believed that the resolution of the Rivers crisis lies with Fubara, not him.
Wike also clarified that he didn’t support President Bola Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, instead framing the move as interventionist protection for Fubara amid impeachment threats.
“The declaration was to save the governor because he was almost impeached,” Wike said.
The feud between Wike and Fubara began over political control of Rivers State, leading to division in the state house of assembly and multiple legal suits.
