Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno defects to APC

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the announcement at a press conference in Uyo, the state capital, citing his desire to fully support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.
”Having completed the rounds of my consultations as your servant, I have therefore decided to progressivesly moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We are not joining the APC from a position of weakness, we are joining the APC from a position of strength,” he said.
Eno emphasised that he was joining the APC from a position of strength, rather than weakness.
He said that his decision was motivated by the need to align the state with the federal government and attract more development projects.
The governor expressed his admiration for President Tinubu’s leadership and economic reforms, which he believed would benefit the state and its people.
He also pledged to support the president’s re-election bid.
The defection is seen as a significant boost to the APC’s fortunes in the state.
The party is expected to leverage the governor’s influence to strengthen its presence in the state and advance its agenda.
