Eid-el-Kabir: religious leaders call for prayers, unity, and progress in Nigeria

Thousands of Muslim faithful on Friday gathered at various Eid prayer grounds and public places in Asaba, Delta to observe Eid el Kabir prayers.
They called for Allah’s intervention in surmounting prevailing hardship and insecurity in parts of Nigeria.
The Chief Imam of Federal College of Education, Technical Asaba Central Mosque, Alhaji Adekola Yinusa, urged Nigerians to emulate the legacies of Prophet Ibrahim by living a life of selfless service to humanity.
Alhaji Yinusa urged Nigerians to always be conscious of what they would be remembered for , saying that today, muslims are looking unto Prophet Ibrahim,
”Ibraham, Ismail, Prophet Mohammed , and even Jesus Christ, served humanity selflessly, and that is why we remember then today for good deeds.
”If we too can use our little or exalted positions to advance the cause of unity, development and progress in the society, definitely the world will be a better place.
”Service to humanity is key, irrespective of where you belong to, religiously or politically ”, Alhaji Yinusa stated.
Yinusa stressed the need for government to do more in alleviating the sufferings of the people by providing scholarships, skill and qualitative education to equip students.
He emphasised the importance of using positions to advance unity, development, and progress in society.
Also, the Chief Imam of Yoruba Central, Alhaji Adams Ayokunle, stressed the need for Nigerians to work with government and security agencies to address security challenges.
He expressed hope that things would get better with prayers, collaboration, and good governance.
Alhaji Famous Lawal, a Muslim leader and head of the Yoruba Community in Delta, admonished those who could afford to slaughter rams to share with those who could not.
The Special Assistant to State Governor on Hausa-Fulani affairs, Alhaji Usman Muktar, called on all Muslims, Christians, and traditional worshippers to pray for God’s intervention in the prevailing insecurity and economic hardship.
He said, ”We are urging all Muslims in the world to pray for their various countries because there is problem.
”You can see that an average ram before now is between N60 and N70,000, but now, it is between N400,000 and N500,000.
”How many people will be able to afford it? Very few.”
