Wike vows to enforce tax payment in FCT, targets privileged areas

FCT The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has made a bold statement, asserting that no poor person resides in upscale areas like Maitama and Asokoro.
He noted that business owners in the Central Business Area were all wealthy individuals who should pay their taxes.
“I am not the first Minister of FCT, no poor man lives in Maitama, Asokoro, all are rich men.
”No poor man does business in Central Business Area. They say they are untouchable, I say No!, ” he said.
He added, “I will touch you, if the right thing is not done. That is leadership. They didn’t appoint me as minister for a beauty contest.
”Mention one poor man who has a house in Maitama, all are rich men, they don’t want to pay tax, you will pay it. You will pay, if you don’t pay, I will touch you and heaven will not fall, but rather be at peace.
Wike declared that he would ensure tax payment from wealthy individuals and businesses in privileged areas.
He emphasised that leadership required making tough decisions for the greater good.
He stated that no one is untouchable and that tax evasion would not be tolerated, warning that failure to comply would result in consequences.
Wike emphasised that leadership is not about popularity, but about making courageous decisions that drive progress.
According to him, leadership is not about you liking someone, it is about you being courageous to make a decision that will help us to move forward.
