NFF approves Sam Okwaraji secondary schools soccer championship

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given its approval for the Sam Okwaraji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship to take place across Nigeria.
The approval is sequel to the endorsement of the Senate Committee on Sports Developments led by Senator Abdul Ningi.
The NFF in a letter signed by Ruth David, Acting Director of Competitions noted that endorsement was in recognition of the objectives and goals of the championship, which would not only impact positively on the youths who are the participants, but also the development of football in the country.
This annual event is an initiative of the Samuel Okwaraji Foundation, aimed at honouring the late Nigerian international who tragically passed away during a FIFA World Cup qualifying match in 1989.
The NFF noted that the championship’s objectives aligned with its own goals of promoting football development and positively impacting Nigerian youth.
NFF also appreciated the foundation for its vision to contribute to the growth and development of grassroots football in Nigeria.
The NFF has requested that the organisers adhere to FIFA’s rules and regulations during the competition.
Sam Okwaraji’s commitment to the Nigerian national team is remembered as a symbol of patriotism and service to his country.
His exemplary conduct and service to the Super Eagles will continue to inspire Nigerian youth for generations to come.
