Niger Delta

Protest looms as Ukwuani/Ndoshimili demand completion of IPP project

A prominent,  Niger Delta activist, Ossai Udom, is urging all sons and daughters of Ukwuani and Ndoshimili ethnic groups in Delta to maintain their patriotic concern for the growth and development of their community.
Udom made the passionate call’ in Abuja,  yesterday,  while questioning the motives of some  elected and appointed political class who gathered in Kwale, Ndokwa West, on Tuesday, June 10 to discuss the progress of their community in the wake of a planned protest against 6 yesrs of blackout in the oil rich region
He further wondered why the political class did not show up to support the people during the recent protests against oil companies in Utagba Ogbe and Ogbeani communities.
According to him, “Please every sons and daughters of our dear Ukwuani and Ndoshimili ethnic should sustain their consistency in our patriotic concern for the growth and development quest !
“Now, the question to ask the elected and appointed political class and a few stakeholders such as the NNU PG, that gathered in Kwale, Ndokwa West today, June 10, 2025 is whether they have ever, since 1999 , gathered like this to discuss progress of our Clime?
”Again, are they not in the Know of the Oduosa of Utagba Ogbe backing and championing the entire Utagba Ogbe protest that just took place?,” he queried.
AHebalso also asked, ”Did they obtain permission from Ndokwa National Union, NNU, President General,  Chief Amaechi Asugwuni, before they came out undeterred, to express their peculiar challenges caused by the oil and gas firms operating in their immediate domain?
”Following in toe, is Ogbeani community, which also protested today or yesterday against oil company wickedness to them?
”Who amongst the political class that naively gathered in large numbers, showed up for the people in this protests?”, he wandered aloud.
Udom expressed concern about the proposed peaceful protest slated for June 16, 2025, to demand the completion of the IPP project by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Udom is worried that the political class might arrange with hoodlums to disrupt the protest and blame it on the patriotic youths.
”Another question is why are they so concerned about the proposed Ukwuani and Ndoshimili constituents peaceful protest slated for June 16, 2025, to demand for the speed completion of the IPP project by the TCN an agency of the FGN?
”The protesters are without doubt, Ukwuani and Ndoshimili Constituents. They must stop inputting politics in the matter!!
It is a collective approach and purpose!!!!
”At this juncture, given the panic mode, switched on by our political elected and appointed and a handful of persons of our clime persons as depicted in NW Secretariat today, to hush down a peaceful protest.
”We are beginning to feel that they might arrange with hoodlums, like what happened during #ENDSAR in Lagos , to damage government assets and blame same on our patriotic youths who would come out for the protest, ” he stated.
He urged the traditional leadership, elders, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful protest and draw the attention of the Federal Government to the lack of electricity in their community.
”We all should join hands in drawing the attention of the Federal Government, to our avoidable lack of electricityin a domain that house/ host several oil and gas firms.
”When are we going start having men and women in politics that prioritise our growth and development as against self enrichment?
”Please help to ensure a peaceful protect for the good of our ethnic Nkokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency as officially referenced for now.
”The questioned when the community will have leaders who prioritise growth and development over self-enrichment.
