Opposition coalition against Tinubu bound to fail – Wike

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has expressed confidence that a planned coalition by some political heavyweights, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election is bound to fail.
Wike said this on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) and other roads in the Katampe district of the nation’s capital.
Wike attributed this to Tinubu’s “good works” since assuming office in 2023.
“Your good work has killed the coalition. I was thinking that, truly, there would be a coalition.
“The coalition is bound to fail, and it has failed,” Wike said.
Wike believed the coalition was doomed to fail due to Tinubu’s good governance.
The FCT Minister praised Tinubu’s efforts, saying they have undermined the opposition’s efforts.
Wike, a member of the opposition PDP, has been a key ally of Tinubu, supporting him in the 2023 presidential election.
President Tinubu jokingly welcomed Wike to the APC, saying the party would welcome him whenever he decides to join.
Tinubu’s remarks drew laughter and cheers from the audience, including Wike, highlighting their warm relationship.
The planned coalition is facing significant challenges, given Tinubu’s popularity and Wike’s endorsement.
Wike has expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, further solidifying their alliance.
