Russia reaffirms commitment to deepening ties with Nigeria

The Russian Federation has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Nigeria, exploring new frontiers in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, Andrey Podelyshev, emphasised Russia’s dedication to upholding an international order grounded in respect for sovereignty, cultural uniqueness, and each nation’s right to pursue its development path.
Ambassador Andrey Podelyshev, Russia’s envoy to Nigeria, said this during a reception held on Wednesday in Abuja to commemorate Russia’s national holiday, “Russia Day.”
Celebrated annually on June 12, Russia Day serves as a time to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and look confidently toward the future.
Podelyshev highlighted Russia’s support for honest and mutually beneficial dialogue, equal partnership, and respect for each nation’s sovereignty.
The ambassador noted Nigeria’s significant role on the African continent, both historically and in humanitarian terms, and praised the country’s openness to constructive dialogue.
Podelyshev expressed optimism about the future, stating that the potential of Russia-Nigeria cooperation is far from exhausted, with new horizons, joint projects, and growth opportunities ahead.
The ambassador emphasised the importance of the partnership between Russia and Nigeria, highlighting the thousands of Nigerians who have studied in Russian universities and the growing cooperation between the two nations.
Russia is committed to strengthening ties with Nigeria, fostering a foundation of trust and cooperation in areas such as science, energy, defense, and agriculture.
