Delta Assembly celebrates 2nd anniversary, highlights achievements

The Delta House of Assembly has marked its second anniversary, highlighting its achievements in lawmaking, representation, and oversight in the last one year.
The Speaker, Mr Dennis Guwor at a press briefing to mark the anniversary on Friday in Asaba, emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to delivering on its mandate.
Guwor noted that the assembly has remained steadfast in performing its oversight functions, ensuring the Executive arm delivered on its policies and programmes.
“Beyond lawmaking, the 8th Assembly has remained steadfast in performing its oversight functions, by ensuring that the Executive arm of government delivers on its policies, programmes and projects.
”The Assembly has visited project sites, interrogated budget performance, and held public hearings to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.”
He also noted that the assembly has maintained close contact with its constituents, bringing their concerns to the floor of the House and ensuring their voices were heard.
Guwor said, “We have maintained close contact with our constituents, bringing their concerns to the floor of the House, and ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs addressed.”
He also emphasised that the assembly prioritised capacity building, training committee clerks, legislative aides, and management staff in areas like report writing, investigative hearings, and parliamentary administration.
He added that members also received training in leadership, effective communication, and budget processing.
Guwor thanked the state Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his progressive leadership and the synergy between the House and the Executive arm.
He said, ”I wish to let you know that the 8th Assembly has enjoyed steady and meaningful progress.
”Surely, we are one big family under the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda ‘of Mr President, His Excellency, Bola Tinubu and our dear Governor, His Excellency, Gôvernor Sheriff Oborevwori, respectively.”
He appreciated his colleagues for their unwavering support, cooperation, and dedication, saying, “your patriotism and steadfastness to our ‘Legislative Agenda’ have been the engine of our achievements.
”I cannot wish for a better set of colleagues than you. Thank you. Let me also thank the management and staff of the Assembly for their diligence and hard work.
”I wish to equally extend my appreciation to our constituents, whose prayers, supports and trust have made our work meaningful.
”Finally, I wish to thank God Almighty for the success of the Second Session of the 8th Assembly. To Him alone be all the glory.
Guwor assured the people of the State that the Assembly would continue to legislate for the state’s development, peace, and progress.
 “As the 8th Assembly begins the third session, we remain committed to our constitutional duties of lawmaking, representation, and oversight
“We will continue to legislate for the development, peace, and progress of the State, ” he emphasised.
