Man docked for allegedly stealing 95 plastic jerry cans

A 31-year-old man, Noah Josu was on Friday arraigned in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State for allegedly stealing 95 plastic jerry cans.
The defendant, whose address was not given is charged with felony, theft and breach of public peace.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel , Insp Ayodele Adeosun, the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 27, at about 10 a.m, at Ajara-Topa, Badagry, Lagos State.
Adeosun alleged that the defendant trespassed on the compound of one, Mr Hunpatin Jimoh, the complainant with the intent to commit felony.
The defendant, he said, stole 95 pieces of Jerry cans worth N380,000 belonging to the complainant.
He said Jimoh conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace by causing pandemonium.
According to him, the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 308, 287 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed.
Hotepo adjourned the case until June 27, for mention.
