Benue Attack: Tinubu visits victims, pledges support

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday visited Benue State to console victims of the recent attack in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area, which claimed over 59 lives and left many injured.
Upon arrival at the Tactical Air Command, Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi, Tinubu immediately went to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital to visit survivors.
The President met with patients, hospital staff, and offered words of comfort, assuring the federal government’s commitment to restoring peace in the region.
He later met with key stakeholders at the Benue State Government House banquet hall, including, Governor Hyacinth Alia, governors from North-Central states, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu,
Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Service chiefs, members of the National Assembly, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting aimed to find a lasting solution to the crisis affecting rural communities in Benue State.
Tinubu further instructed security agencies to apprehend those behind the killings, emphasizing the need for tangible intelligence to prevent future attacks .
The visit underscored the federal government’s commitment to restoring security and stability in Benue State, which has faced recurring violent clashes between herders and farmers.
The state government had declared a public holiday for the visit, highlighting the significance of the event.
