Tinubu condemns Plateau killings, vows to bring perpetrators to justice

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the brutal killing of 12 travelers in Plateau State, describing the attack as “unacceptable and barbaric”.
Tinubu stated this a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday.
The incident occurred when the victims, who were traveling from Zaria in Kaduna State to Quan’pan Local Government Area of Plateau for a wedding, lost their way and inadvertently ran into a tense situation in Mangun, a community grappling with sustained terrorist attacks.
Eight lives were lost, and several others sustained injuries.
Tinubu emphasised that freedom of movement for all citizens was “non-negotiable” and urged security forces to ensure the arrest and punishment of the culprits.
He directed the Nigerian Police Force to work with other security and intelligence agencies to ensure those responsible were held accountable.
Tinubu called on the Plateau State Government to take decisive action in handling the vicious cycles of violence.
The President commiserated with the victims’ families and the people and government of Kaduna State, calling for calm while promising that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
Also, the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani who condemned the killings, expressed shock, and vowed to hunt down the criminals, saying, “This madness must stop. Enough is enough.”
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, expressed sorrow over the tragic mob action, describing it as “totally condemnable and avoidable”.
He emphasised that the prolonged attacks on the community do not justify the senseless act against innocent commuters.
