Dickson foundation supports 148 law students with N14.8m grant

Former Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson  has presented an educational support grant to 148 Bayelsa students of the Nigeria Law School, totaling N14.8 million.
The grant, disbursed at N100,000 per student, is part of the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation’s efforts to support students in tertiary institutions.
According to Senator Dickson, ”Today, on behalf of the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation (HSDF), I presented an educational support grant to 148 Bayelsa students of the Nigeria Law School (2023/2024 Session).
”The sum total of the grant is N14,800,000 (fourteen million, eight hundred thousand naira), at a disbursement rate of N100,000 per student, ” he said.
Senator Dickson further said, ”As everyone knows, every year, the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation organises scholarships and grants for students of tertiary institutions, as well as scholarships for students to pursue various courses of study at the Hensard University, which is fast becoming a preferred destination for academic excellence’.
Dickson who represents Bayelsa West at the Senate, emphasised the importance of investing in education and encourages leaders and elders to support the poor and vulnerable.
Dickson solicited support from individuals, corporations, and stakeholders to sustain the foundation’s efforts in developing human potential.
His words: ”I thank the partners of the Foundation, who include corporations, individuals, and other stakeholders.
”We will continue to solicit support to enable us to sustain our efforts in developing human potential which, as I have repeatedly emphasised, is the most important investment anyone can make.
”Everyone is aware of the priority I gave to education during my tenure as Governor.
”Investing in education is not the responsibility of government alone; I call on individuals, corporations, and all people of goodwill to support this vital endeavour.”
The lawmaker also announced plans to flag off a community health support project in partnership with the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS), aimed to assist the poor and vulnerable.
His words: “This year, I will also flag off another pet project of mine, which is the provision of community health support and grants, through working in partnership with the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS), an initiative I established by law as governor, and which has continued to serve the people of Bayelsa effectively.
”This is yet another area where I encourage our leaders and elders to assist to support the poor and vulnerable in our society, rather than leaving the responsibility solely to government.”
Dickson while congratulating the beneficiaries, urged them to strive for excellence in their studies and represent Bayelsa honourably in various fields.
He encouraged them to excel in the professional and corporate spheres, where Bayelsans were underrepresented.
”Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the beneficiaries, ” he added.
