A High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
Ajayi was found guilty of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
The court heard that Ajayi killed and dismembered Adaidu when she visited him at his house in New Karshi, Nasarawa State.
He was arrested while attempting to dispose of her head.
Ajayi had confessed to the crime, stating that he killed Adaidu due to her alleged infidelity.
He expressed no regrets about committing the crime, citing a belief in reciprocity in relationships.
