Nwoko lobbies senators, obtains 85 signatures for Anioma State creation

As the National Assembly intensifies effort to amend the Constitution, Senator representing Delta North at the National Assembly, Ned Nwoko has continued to consolidate in his quest for the creation of an Anioma State, by reaching out to his colleagues in the upper legislative chamber to ensure the state gets their nod.
Already, Senator Nwoko has obtained the signatures of no fewer than 85 senators to achieve the objective.
In the letter dated May 27, 2025, and addressed to the Senate President and all members of the Senate, Nwoko sought for their endorsement and support for the creation of Anioma State, a constitutional proposal captured under the Senate Bill 481, currently undergoing legislative consideration as part of the ongoing constitutional amendment process.
Nwoko challenged his colleagues to rise to the occasion with courage, vision, and a commitment to justice.

“Let us be remembered as the Senate that brought balance to Nigeria’s state structure and healed a longstanding national wound,” he appealed
Meanwhile, indigenes of Anioma, in Delta, have commended President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other eminent Nigerians for their support towards the proposed creation of Anioma State.
A statement issued in Lekki, Lagos, by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Anioma State creation, Osita Oganah, specifically commended the efforts being made by the ruling APC-led administration and Tinubu towards ensuring that the age-long quest for the creation of Anioma State becomes a reality.
He added that Anioma people of Delta, comprising nine predominantly lgbo speaking people of Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Ika North East, Ika South, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani local council areas remained grateful to all for the support towards Anioma state creation.
The statement also commended Nwoko, for championing the struggle for Anioma State creation, just as he hailed the two other senators from Delta State, Joel Onowakpo and Ede Dafinone, for supporting the new state creation request.
Ogana also commended traditional rulers, youths, artisans, market women, business, political and academic elite of Anioma extraction for backing Nwoko in his efforts towards the new state project.
The statement further stressed: “lt is evident that the request for Anioma State will soon become a reality given the planned Senate Public Hearing on its request, which begins on July 4, 2025.
”The priority given to the Anioma State creation request has been encouraging and should help in properly balancing the federation, which is currently skewed against the Igbo.”
