Former senate president David Mark appointed ADC interim chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has a new leadership team, with former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola appointed as interim national chairman and national secretary, respectively.
The appointment was made official during a meeting of the opposition coalition on Wednesday at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The former national chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralf Nwosu, formally handed over the party’s membership card to Mark and Aregbesola.
In his acceptance speech, Mark called on Nigerians to join the coalition, saying that the movement was set to rescue the country from collapse and rebuild its democracy.
Mark said that the coalition’s mission was clear: “Rescue Nigeria. Rebuild Nigeria. Return power to the people.”
“Let it be known to all that this coalition of national political opposition groups goes beyond gaining political power. It is a concerted effort to rebuild the crumbling pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.
“The mission is clear: Rescue Nigeria. Rebuild Nigeria. Return power to the people,” Mark, who was picked as the ADC interim chair, added.
He emphasised that the coalition goes beyond gaining political power, but is a concerted effort to rebuild the crumbling pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.
The meeting was attended by several prominent politicians, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Dino Melaye, Dele Momodu, and Senator Ireti Kingibe, among others.
The opposition coalition has adopted the ADC as its platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
With Mark and Aregbesola at the helm, the party is poised to take on the APC and potentially change the course of Nigerian politics.
