Wike says peace has returned to Rivers, won’t discuss deal

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declined to disclose details of the recent truce brokered between him and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Speaking during a media chat at his Abuja residence on Thursday, Wike said the most important thing was that peace has returned to the state.
“I will allow you to speculate, it is not my business. All I know is that peace has come.
“If you are not satisfied with that, there is nothing we can do. What is important is that peace has returned, whatever thing anybody says is not my business, ” he said.
Wike said that some individuals had turned the crisis in Rivers State into a lucrative venture, using it to enrich themselves for selfish purposes.
These individuals, he claimed, were now displeased with his reconciliation with Fubara.
The truce was brokered by President Bola Tinubu, who hosted a meeting between Wike and Fubara last month.
The meeting marked a significant step towards peace in the state, which had been embroiled in a heated political impasse.
