Peter Obi questions Nnamdi Kanu’s prolonged detention

Labour Party’s Peter Obi has questioned the prolonged detention of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing it as unreasonable.
Obi spoke bared his mind on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he expressed his concerns about Kanu’s continued custody, citing the need for dialogue and inclusive political solutions to address national agitation and insecurity.
“For every one of them, I mean, why is he still being held? It does not make sense to me,” Obi said this when asked if he would canvass a political solution for the IPOB leader.
Obi said that Kanu’s alleged verbal offenses, including using vulgar words, were not sufficient reasons for his detention.
His words: “Some people said that because he used vulgar words and everything. I’ve not seen it.
”They said he’s using vulgar words. But it doesn’t bother me if I’m president, whether you call me a thief or an idiot, which they call me today. It doesn’t bother me, ” he said.
Obi advocated for a different approach, suggesting that he would engage in dialogue with individuals or groups causing unrest, including bandits, to establish a connection and find a solution.
He further said, “If there are people I can talk to, I’ll talk to them. Let’s say tomorrow we have a bandit operating in the North East, I’ll meet with him.
”But that is just to establish a link to say enough is enough. And afterwards, I’ll deal with it decisively, ” he added.
