Lukman advises Obidients to learn from 2023 election mistakes

The former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Salihu Lukman, has advised Peter Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, to learn from the mistakes of the 2023 general elections as opposition parties gear up for the 2027 polls.
Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, came third in the last general elections, trailing behind Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Wednesday, Dr. Lukman noted that despite being vocal, Obidients were largely absent during critical moments, which he believes hindered Obi’s presidential campaign.
Lukman also highlighted the lack of polling agents in several locations nationwide as a significant weakness in Obi’s campaign.
He urged Obidients to join forces with the ADC-led coalition to strengthen opposition structures and prevent similar lapses in 2027.
Lukman assured that the coalition would support whoever emerges as their candidate, whether it’s Peter Obi or another figure like Atiku Abubakar.
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to engage honestly and frankly in politics to drive the country forward.
Lukman’s comments come as the ADC-led coalition continues talks with opposition blocs to form a united front against the APC.
The goal is to build a stronger, more cohesive opposition that can challenge the ruling party effectively in 2027.
