The Delta State Government on Friday received the Best State in Cybersecurity Leadership Award from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The program with Theme “Building A Resilient Digital Future,” was organized by the agency in collaboration with the Office ofthe National Security Adviser, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Director of NITDA’s Cybersecurity Department, Dr. Lawan A. Mohammed, while presenting the award, said the honour was in recognition of the state’s relentless efforts in Exemplary leadership in cybersecurity Governance, Infrastructure development, and cybersecurity awareness evidence in ensuring that residents embrace digital technology.
Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of the Delta State Governor; the State Webmaster, Comrade Louis Zuokumor Osiobe expressed appreciation to NITDA for the honour bestowed on the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, while acknowledging that the gesture would spur him to do more advocacy on the digital economy and Cybersecurity, among other areas for enhanced peace and Security has taken center stage in the MORE Agenda of the State Government.
He stated that Governor Oborevwori understands the importance of building a resilient Cybersecurity infrastructure ; hence, various achievements have been recorded so far towards Cybersecurity in the State.
Osiobe emphasized that Delta State has been recognized locally and internationally based on Tech empowerment programs and Cybersecurity related training course made available at the Delta TechHub and Office of the State Webmaster for youths, technology entrepreneurs, law enforcement agency and startups, calling on Nigerian youths to navigate digitalization.
According to him, there is need for every individual, organization, and government agency that desires growth to embrace Cybersecurity, saying that service delivery in Delta State has been made easier through the digitalized and technology-driven agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He reiterated that the Delta State Government is investment ready for individuals or organizations that are ready to embrace and leverage on the opportunity available in technology, emphasizing various opportunities available at Delta Techhub and office of the State Webmaster.
