Buhari’s son pays emotional tribute to Tinubu for organising state funeral

The son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Yusuf Buhari, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for organising a befitting state funeral for his father.
Speaking at an expanded Federal Executive Council meeting on Thursday in Abuja, Alhaji Buhari praised Tinubu’s leadership and support during their time of grief.
Buhari, fighting back tears, thanked President Tinubu and his administration for their kindness and support.
“It has shown that he (Buhari) was regarded far more than a politician, but regarded as a friend and a father,” he said.
The Buhari family appreciated the care and dignity accorded to their late father during the state funeral.
Yusuf Buhari also extended his gratitude to the National Assembly for honouring his father’s memory during the state burial in Daura.
He also thanked Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda for standing by the family during this difficult time.
Yusuf Buhari also thanks other governors and Nigerians for their condolences and solidarity.
In his emotional speech, Yusuf Buhari repeatedly thanked President Tinubu, saying “thank you, daddy. Thank you, daddy. Thank you, Daddy. May Allah continue to bless, provide, and protect you throughout your tenure”.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away on Sunday at a clinic in London, and his body was received in Nigeria by President Tinubu and buried in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s president for eight years, from 2015 to 2023, and was also the military head of state from 1983 to 1985. He was 82 years old.
