NDDC scandal: Judith Amaechi denies receiving N4bn monthly

Wife of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Mrs. Judith Amaechi, said strongly denied allegations made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that she received N4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for women empowerment and training.
In a statement released by her spokesperson, Dike Bekwele, Mrs. Amaechi described Wike’s claims as “absurd and baseless.”
The allegations were made by Wike in an interview earlier in July 2025, where he claimed that Mrs. Amaechi received N4 billion monthly and a total of N48 billion to train Niger Delta women.
However, her spokesperson has rubbished the claims, saying that there was no truth to the allegations.
The statement clarified that the partnership between the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) and the NDDC was a reciprocal one, aimed at jointly funding human capacity programs and trainings for youths and women in the Niger Delta region.
The partnership also supports nano, micro, small, and medium-scale entrepreneurs, as well as entrepreneurial development centers for youths and women.
Judith who challenged Wike to resign as Minister of the FCT and apologise to the nation if he failed to provide such a report. also urged Wike to make public the forensic audit report on the NDDC, which allegedly indicted her or the ESI.
The statement further noted that it would be preposterous for Wike to make such allegations without providing evidence.
The allegations and counter-allegations between Judith Amaechi and Nyesom Wike were set against the backdrop of a long-standing feud between their husbands.
Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike, both former governors of Rivers State, have had a strained relationship in recent years, with each side engaging in public spats and counter-accusations.
