New APC chairman pledges to unite, expand party

The newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has vowed to take tough decisions in his new role.
Dr. Yiktadhe said that the confidence APC have in me is to make sure I take tough decisions but with gentility and teamwork for the collective interest of the part.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, Yilwatda emphasised the importance of making tough decisions with gentility and teamwork for the collective interest of the party.
Yilwatda likened his gentle mien to that of President Bola Tinubu, saying that he would consult broadly across the party’s organs and take tough decisions for the collective interest of the party.
He also noted that the president’s body language is soft-talking, calm, and gentle, but he is driving the country forward by taking tough decisions.
The new APC chairman said his job was to unite the party and expand its reach, emphasising that the party currently has 23 governors and is still counting, and his job is to bring in more.
Yilwatda assured that the party would do legwork to bring in more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties.
Already, two governors have dumped the PDP for the APC in 2025, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
Yilwatda also said he would capitalise on the presence of his predecessors Abdullahi Ganduje, Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Mai Mala Buni still in the party, gleaning from their vast experience to steer the APC to the desired destination.
He emphasised that his immediate priority is to ensure the party is united and to coordinate the party to implement its manifesto to the fullest.
The new APC chairman highlighted his qualifications and experience, saying that his antecedents have prepared him for the big role of APC national chairman.
Yilwatda is a registered engineer, a former lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, a former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and until recently, Humanitarian Affairs Minister.
He said these experiences were “building blocks” that have prepared him to lead the ruling party.
The emergence of Nentawe Yilwatda as the new APC chairman marked a new chapter for the party.
With his emphasis on taking tough decisions, uniting the party, and expanding its reach, Yilwatda is poised to lead the APC to new heights.
