South South PDP hails UNIPORT for honouring Wike

The South South Zonal leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) for conferring an Honorary Doctorate Degree on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike.
The party described the recognition as a testament to Wike’s impactful leadership and service to the nation.
Mr. Wike received the Doctor of Science degree in Political Science (D.Sc Honoris Causa) on Saturday, during UNIPORT’s 35th Combined Convocation and 50th Anniversary celebration in Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued shortly after the event on Saturday, the PDP National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Dan Osi-Orbih, described the honour as “well-earned and deserving.”
He cited Wike’s significant contributions to governance, public service, and infrastructural development as reasons for the recognition.
“From his trailblasing tenure as Governor of Rivers to his current national assignment in the FCT, Wike’s commitment to excellence has remained unwavering,” Osi-Orbih said.
He lauded the minister’s role in the development of both UNIPORT and Rivers State and noted that Wike continued to be a “tower of hope and a shining example of what purposeful leadership can achieve.”
Osi-Orbih thanked the UNIPORT Governing Council and Management for finding Wike deserving of the honour, adding that the PDP in the South South region remained proud of his achievements and dedication to democratic ideals.
“We will continue to celebrate him not just as a South South leader, but as a true statesman whose influence transcends regional boundaries,” he added.
