Oborevwori’s aide engages community leaders for grassroot development

The Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development, Barr. Benedicta Osakunih-Izuegbu, has engaged president generals of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal constituency for meaningful development through a summit.
The one-day summit, which was for community leaders under the umbrella of Ani Ndokwa Clans Association (ANCA), brought together president generals of the 37 clans in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
The former DESOPADEC Commissioner said that the essence of the summit was to establish a platform for active and regular interface between government and the people.
Osakunih-Izuegbu also said that her must act as a bridge between the government and the grassroot communities.
She further said this would help to strengthen grassroot participation in government and governance, empowering local community men, women, and youths through direct engagements in decision-making processes of government.
The summit urged community leaders to select one or two projects that would be of immense benefit to their people, for onward transmission to the Governor and inclusion in the budget under “Community Projects 2026”.
She said that the initiative was part of the government’s effort to promote grassroots development and ensure that community needs were addressed.
The summit was themed “Building Better Tomorrow Projects for Our Communities in the MORE Agenda”.
Osakunih-Izuegbu emphasised the importance of supporting the present administration of Governor Oborevwori and his MORE agenda to attract more development to the Ndokwa nation.
While stressing the need to continue building a better tomorrow for the people, the former chairman of Ukwuani local government area called for more support for the administration to enable the people derive the full benefits and dividends of democracy.
Osakunih-Izuegbu thanked the community leaders for their presence and expressed her desire to build trust between the government and the grassroot communities of Ndokwa Nation.
In his remarks, the President of Presidents General in Delta State, Prince Igwe Nzekwe,  expressed appreciation for the historic gathering, just as he praised the state government  for the progressive initiative
Prince Nzekwe assured the government of Elder Sheriff Oborevwori of the President Generals continued support in his M.O.R.E. agenda geared towards even development of the state especially rural areas
Each of the 37 President General of Ndokwa /Ukwuani Federal Constituency had the opportunity to present their respective communities’ needs
Nzekwe praised Osakuni-Izuegbu,  for taking an engaging progressively different approach, with President Generals for their inputs into the 2026 budget.
His words: “This was a laudable approach and first of its kind for the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in Delta State, as it has afforded each President General from the 37 clans opportunities to be part of budget planning.
“A very great opportunity to bring dividend of democracy with needed infrastructures in place to their communities”, he added.
Expectedly, first on the needs presented by the PGs was electricity to end decades of darkness in the oil rich ethnic nationality, the ravaging erosion of Ndokwa East communities by River Niger and urgent attention to abandoned roads across the three LGAs that connects the aggrarian communities.
“Ndokwa is surely a food basket that can conveniently feed the South-South geopolitical zone.
“With good roads, we have arable lands that, if well utilised, will generate needed jobs and increased commerce for our hardworking teeming youths”, he added.
