President Tinubu rewards Super Falcons with $100,000, apartments

President Bola Tinubu has showered Nigeria’s Super Falcons with impressive rewards for their historic comeback victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Each player would receive $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Abuja.
The technical team members would also be rewarded with $50,000 each and a three-bedroom apartment.
The Super Falcons made history by defeating host nation Morocco 3-2 in the final, coming back from a two-goal deficit to clinch their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
The President announced the rewards during a reception held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he honoured the players and officials for their performance.
His words: “You have demonstrated an indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage.
“This victory couldn’t have been more historic, ” he said.

President Tinubu also admitted that watching the match was nerve-wracking, noting that he nearly gave up when Nigeria trailed by two goals.
Beyond the monetary and housing rewards, the President also conferred national honour “Officer of the Order of the Niger” on all the players and officials, describing their performance as “an inspiration to millions of Nigerians and Africans alike.”
The celebration marked a significant moment for the Super Falcons, who have now won four of the last five WAFCON tournaments (2014, 2016, 2018, and 2025).
