U.S. to set up Gaza food centers

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to establish food centers in Gaza to address the dire humanitarian situation, describing the crisis as “real starvation”.
During a visit to the United Kingdom, President Trump emphasised the need for immediate intervention, saying, “There is real starvation happening in Gaza, and we are going to set up food centers there.”
Trump pledged U.S. funding for the food centers and emphasised Israel’s responsibility in facilitating humanitarian aid.
This move comes after the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reported 14 deaths from malnutrition in the past 24 hours, highlighting the growing desperation among civilians trapped in the conflict.
The health ministry in Gaza had reported 147 deaths from starvation and malnutrition, including 89 children, with 14 fatalities occurring in the past day alone.
The World Food Programme (WFP) had delivered 60 aid trucks, short of its daily target of 100 trucks, while the United Nations warns that nearly 470,000 Gazans face famine-like conditions.
Israel had begun pausing military operations for 10 hours daily in selected areas to allow aid delivery and had permitted humanitarian aid to be air-dropped over Gaza.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer backed the initiative, and European governments areprepared to increase support.
Images of starving children have sparked international criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Two prominent Israeli human rights organisations have accused the government of committing genocide in Gaza, alleging disproportionate targeting of civilians and devastation of infrastructure.
The Israeli government had denied allegations of genocide, maintaining its operations aim to dismantle Hamas.
