Peter Obi to return to PDP for 2027 presidential bid – Ali Modu Sheriff

Former Borno State governor, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, has hinted that Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, might return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.
The speculation comes after Obi joined other opposition politicians to form a coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Alhaji Sheriff said that according to information available to him, Peter Obi would likely return to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the party’s platform.
The development has sparked speculation about Obi’s future plans and potential implications for the 2027 elections.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is also rumoured to be interested in contesting for the presidency in 2027, potentially on the PDP’s platform.
Sheriff noted that with Obi’s possible return to PDP, the party’s presidential ticket might be contested by prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking on Tuesday on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sheriff said information at his disposal indicated that Obi would likely clinch the PDP presidential ticket.
The former governor said, “Atiku has been the vice president of Nigeria. So for him, (it is) president or nothing. Peter Obi ran under the Labour Party. His ambition is to become President.
“Information available to me is that any moment from now, Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP.
“So that leaves former Vice President, Atiku, and (Rotimi) Amaechi. So tell me, which states do they control?”
