Tinubu’s administration delivering on security pledges – Gov. Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has praised President Bola Tinubu for keeping his campaign promises to the North, particularly in addressing security challenges in the region.
Speaking at a two-day interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation on Tuesday in Kaduna, Governor Sani highlighted the progress made in tackling insecurity, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and inclusion.
Senator Sani ssud, “With President Tinubu’s support, his administration has prioritised peace, reinvigorated security agencies, empowered local vigilance groups, and engaged communities with empathy and respect.
“The administration has dismantled criminal enclaves along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, reopened markets in Birnin Gwari, and restored life to ghost towns in Chikun and Igabi”, he added.
Sani also said, “Upon assuming office as governor in 2023, I was confronted with a Kaduna State under siege. Insecurity casts a long, dark shadow over our communities. Banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and violent crime had become daily spectres from the Kaduna-Abuja expressway to Birnin Gwari, from Chikun to Igabi and across the uneasy corridors of southern parts of our dear state.
” Fear was rampant. Kaduna long celebrated for its resilience and cultural vitality was being slowly eroded by chaos,” he said.
He further said, “The Kaduna-Abuja highway once the vibrant artery of commerce and movement had become a corridor of dread, a painful symbol of governmental failure.
”The Abuja-Kaduna train attack of 2022 remains seared into our collective consciousness as a grim testament to the depth of the security crisis.
”Entire communities were abandoned, markets shuttered, and Kaduna’s very spirit trembled under the weight of fear.
”Frankly, had we attempted to organise this conference under those conditions in May 2023, the hall would have been empty or worse rendered inaccessible by persistent insecurity,” he said.
Governor Sani emphasised that insecurity is not only a failure of arms but also born of exclusion, educational deprivation, and policy neglect.
He highlighted that poverty is a potent instigator of instability, citing that over 65 per cent of the population in the North-West was financially excluded before his administration took office.
Governor Sani commended President Tinubu’s leadership and support in addressing security challenges in Kaduna State.
He praised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for ensuring intelligent and sustained security responses.
Governor Sani emphasised the need for sustained efforts to address the root causes of insecurity, including poverty, exclusion, and educational deprivation.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between the federal government, state governments, and local communities to achieve lasting peace and stability.
