Michael Jackson’s sock sells for $8,000 at French auction

A Michael Jackson memorabilia auction in France saw one of his glittery socks sell for over $8,000.
The sock was worn by the King of Pop during his “History World Tour” concert in Nimes, France, in July 1997.
The used sock was discarded near Jackson’s dressing room after the concert and was later auctioned off.
The sock was initially valued at €3,000 to €4,000 ($3,400 to $4,500) and later sold for €7,688 ($8,822) at the Nimes auction house.
The off-white sock is covered in stains, and the rhinestones adorning it have yellowed with age.
The auctioneer described it as an “exceptional object even a cult one for Michael Jackson fans”.
This isn’t the first time Michael Jackson’s memorabilia has fetched a high price. Some notable sales including glittery glove sold for $350,000 in 2009 to a Macau gaming resort.
Jackson wore this glove when he performed his first “moonwalk” dance in 1983.
His moonwalk hat was old for over $80,000 in Paris in 2023. Jackson wore this hat just before his iconic moonwalk performance.
