Nigeria’s D’Tigress defeat Senegal, book spot in Afrobasket final

The Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has reached the final of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket after defeating Senegal 75-68 in a thrilling semifinal match.
The team, led by Coach Rena Wakama, showed determination and resilience, overcoming a strong Senegalese side.
Ezinne Kalu played a crucial role, scoring 19 points and helping the team overcome a 8-point deficit at the start of the 4th quarter.
Cierra Dillard was Senegal’s top scorer with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
The victory extends D’Tigress’ winning streak to 28 matches, with their last loss in the competition occurring in 2015 against Angola.
D’Tigress will face the winner of the match between South Sudan and Mali in the final.
