Bayo Onanuga blasts Peter Obi’s one-term vow

The Presidency has criticised Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s renewed pledge to serve only one term if elected president, calling it deceitful and highlighting his history of broken promises and political inconsistency.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga reacting to Obi’s vow restated in a social media post on Sunday that he would serve only one term if elected president, faulted the former two-time governor of Anambra State’s credibility and fitness to lead a complex nation like Nigeria.
In a post shared on his verified X handle, @aonanuga1956, on Sunday night, Onanuga wrote: “Peter Obi, the liar, is exposed again.
“You are neither a Mandela nor a Lincoln or a Kennedy. You sound as if you have never held an elected office before.
”You sought re-election as Anambra Governor in 2010 and narrowly won courtesy of a divided opposition. Why didn’t you walk away after only one term in office?”.
He questioned Obi’s credibility and fitness to lead Nigeria, citing his past actions as governor of Anambra State.
Onanuga accused Obi of having a history of breaking promises, including his vow not to defect from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The presidential spokesperson highlighted Obi’s inconsistency in politics, questioning why he sought re-election as governor if he was committed to serving only one term.
Onanuga criticised Obi’s performance as governor, asking if Anambra State was transformed after his eight-year tenure.
The presidency questioned Obi’s credibility, citing his past contradictions and broken promises.
Onanuga argued that Obi’s past actions make it difficult for people to trust him, especially when it comes to keeping promises.
The presidential spokesperson suggested that Obi would likely find excuses to break his one-term vow if elected president.
The criticism from the Presidency could impact Obi’s credibility and electoral prospects.
The public’s perception of Obi’s trustworthiness and commitment to his promises may be influenced by the Presidency’s criticism .
