Celebrated author Chimamanda Adichie has reaffirmed her support for Mr. Peter Obi, citing his selfless leadership and commitment to Nigeria as the reasons behind her endorsement.
In an exclusive interview on Channels Television’s Amazing Africans, Adichie distinguished Mr. Obi from other politicians, describing him as a man driven by a desire to serve, not by ego or desperation for power.
Adichie praised Obi’s selfless leadership, saying that Obi have the intention to serve Nigeria, not because he needed to be president, but because he cared about the country.
She noted that Obi was accountable to the people, adding that he doesn’t expect thanks for doing his job as a leader.
Adichie also described Obi as a man of values, humility, and consistency, qualities she believes are essential in a leader.
She further disclosed that she has known Obi for 15 years and described him as “one of the simplest men I have ever known.”
She praised Obi’s consistency, saying the person she knew 15 years ago is still the same in terms of his values.
Adichie was a prominent supporter of Obi during the 2023 presidential election, endorsing him through social media posts, a birthday tribute, and an official video.
After the election, she penned an open letter to U.S. President Joe Biden, criticizing the credibility of the polls and cautioning against recognizing the outcome.
Obi has expressed his interest in running for president in the 2027 election, and Adichie’s endorsement is seen as a boost to his campaign.
