Sule Lamido likens APC to a deadly disease

A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has launched an attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a destructive force that must be removed for Nigeria to thrive.
In an interview on ARISE TV on Tuesday, Lamido likened the APC to a deadly disease that needed urgent removal, saying, “We must remove this cancer called APC, which we can call malaria, cancer level 4.”
He emphasised that the APC’s failures have been consistent across different administrations, saying that whether it’s President Bola Tinubu or former President Muhammadu Buhari, the party’s leadership has failed Nigeria.
Lamido said that the APC is a malignant force in Nigerian politics that must be excised to restore progress.
-He argued that the party’s failures have been consistent since 2014, citing the same issues in different administrations.
Lamido urged Nigerians to reject the APC in future elections, emphasising that voting for the party would perpetuate its failures.
While backing the idea of a political coalition to counter APC dominance, Lamido stresses that the focus should be on uniting Nigerians around key national issues, not personalities.
Lamido also emphasised the need for a shift in political discourse from individuals to institutions and ideologies.
He urged stakeholders to focus on the issues rather than diverging from them, saying, “It’s not about Tinubu. It’s about APC.”
Lamido questioned the commitment of some opposition figures, urging them to build strong party structures rather than relying on fleeting alliances.
He advised them to “slow down” and focus on creating a robust opposition that can effectively challenge the APC.
