Late Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin, laid to rest

The late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has been laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, with a funeral service attended by dignitaries and a large congregation.
The monarch’s coffin was draped in the national flag with military regalia, reflecting his military background as a retired Major.
The Archbishop of Ibadan Province of the Anglican Communion, Williams Aladekugbe, described Oba Olakulehin’s contributions to the community as enduring, highlighting his commitment to peace, unity, and cultural preservation.
Aladekugbe emphasised the monarch’s legacy of service, compassion, and wisdom, which endeared him to his people and fostered dialogue and understanding among diverse groups.
The Archbishop urged the congregation to honour the late monarch’s memory by embodying the values he championed, including love, unity, and justice.
The final burial rite has cleared the way for the enthronement process of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, to begin in full swing after his nomination and endorsement by kingmakers.
The state government, kingmakers, and the emerging ruling house are making preparations for the enthronement ceremony.
